  • Loves spending time with her family: husband Doug, three adult children and their significant others, and granddaughter Amelia
  • Enjoys camping, kayaking, reading, traveling, opening her home and cooking for others, making gifts for friends and family on her pottery wheel, and going on road trips with her bestie
  • Has attended Grace since she was two years old
  • One of her favorite quotes is from Peter Pan: “Would you like an adventure now, or would you like to have your tea first?”

Karen is immensely grateful for the staff role she is in: planning and leading mission trips for students and adults around the world, caring for and building relationships with ministry partners here in Detroit and in places far away, and learning and teaching more and more about how and why we are passionate about being a church on mission.

Who Should Be Baptized

If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, placing your faith in His death and resurrection as the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin, then you are ready to be baptized! Your baptism is an opportunity to show others that you now belong to Jesus and are committed to walking with Him always.

Baptism symbolizes what took place in your heart at the time of salvation:

  • Accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
  • Shared in His death, burial, and resurrection, illustrated by going under the water (dead to your old life), then rising again (new life).

Here at Grace, we understand Scripture to teach that only professing believers who understand the gospel and have committed to a life of following Christ are eligible for baptism.
